MOLLY KETCHESON

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Molly Ketcheson is a second year student at the University of St Andrews, pursuing a degree in English Literature and Film Studies.

She won the 2019 Dan Hemingway Short Story Prize for Vanishing Act, a story about Lydia, a girl whose mother decides one afternoon to walk out the door, leaving Lydia, her brother and father behind and begging for answers. Molly thinks of Vanishing Act as a quietly hopeful story about the intricacies of familial relationships and the disparity between peoples’ complex identities and the focused lenses through which others see them.

After graduation in 2022, Molly hopes to pursue a career in publishing while continuing to write. Dan Hemingway is the first prize she has received for her work.
